I live in Western N.C. Our soil is red clay laden with sulphur and iron. I am one of a few who even detects here. I have tested a bounty hunter sharp shooter 2 and it will go about 5 inches. A Minelab 305 will go about 6 inches deep. If I upgrade, am I going to spend a lot of money for another machine that will only give me another inch or two of depth? I just do not find silver at the depths I work with now, and I am hunting some places where there should be some silver. I love the hobby, and will fight the soil, but it sure would be nice to enjoy rewards of silver. Any thoughts? If they will work, I am looking at Minelab 705 or Safari.
