need some help

I am not sure about this.My grandfather who lived close to where the Battle of McDowell was fought gave this to me in the 70's.He said that he thought that it was a solid shot from the civil war,but i don't know.So i am asking for some help from someone who might have some ideas about this.This ball is 3 1/2 inches dia,11 1/4 cercum. and weight is approx. 6 lbs.It has a seam all the way around it,but it is a flat seam.Here are some pics.Thanks in advance.
