folks, headed back to the farm where I recently nabbed an 1845 LC, so you know it's older. Started working the area where I found the LC, but didn't have a lot of time. I dug most everything that was mid range and higher with a repeatable signal. I got spoon parts, big piece of lead, some old shotgun shells, and two buttons.
The first one I got is bigger. It's a scovill with the waterbury mfg co mark (pretty tough to read with the bend). The front is blank, which really shocked me. It's dented it, but it doesn't look like it ever had anything on it. Here are the pics:
I was under the impression that most were military issue, but I'm not a button guy. So, button experts, have at it!
The other button is a super thin flat button. I mean, at first, I saw the edge and was hoping for some Spanish silver or something (tho vdi was low). It reminds me of the old flat button that I recently got from another property. It has what looks like the word "Bett" and then karat symbols, like this ">>>>>>>>" all around the button edge. Here is the pic:
I don't see any more letters on this button, but it is very hard to read, even with a loupe.
