This little thing blew my ears out while I was detecting near an 1870s house. Sorry I don't have an item for scale or even good quality pictures, I left it with the LO and just snapped a few pics as I was leaving. I'll be over there again tomorrow if you want any more pictures or info on it.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Noah_D

Thought at first it was a candle stuffer, but the indent is too shallow.
Guess it might be a sash/curtain cord end/weight.

Do you know if the hole is threaded or not?

I don't think so but I just sent my uncle (the LO) a message asking him... I'll let you know if he gets back to me but if not I'll just take a look at it tomorrow when I'm over there.

That was my first thought as well, I dismissed it at first (why? Idk.) but I think you might be right.

Btw Mud hut, my uncle said he doesn't think it is threaded.

I think your find is an old grease cup from a piece of antique farm implement, tractor or engine. Some of these grease cups were on old cream separators too. It may have been broken off from the equipment. The top part with the knurls should unscrew so grease can be added.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1617465972.564614.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1617465995.149214.webp

Noah,

I'm with Crusader on this one providing that hole extends to the bottom of the piece.

Here’s a couple more grease cups that are more closer to the style of your find. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1617485761.997339.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1617485791.680966.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1617485803.531072.webp
