All Treasure Hunting
Hey all, as you guys know, my home forum is treasurehunterforum.net, but I am a member here as well, and I know some of you have seen me post ID's for a few people in the recent past. But a photo was posted from one of the members back at the home forum of a potentially religious pendant, (will post pic in a moment, looks to be a saint(?) or a man carrying a child on his shoulder and an angel possibly to his right)and man, I am having zip for zip luck in ID'ing this for her. If any of you are able to ID this , please feel free and go to the home forum of mine, (you will have to be a member to see any pics etc), go to the " Beach And Surf Hunting" thread, and post for yourself the ID you found for her. Believe her name is "eastcoastdiggers". Have no reason to take the credit of an ID I myself did not find, nor would I ever; and with me having no luck in my search thus far, I now ask for help from any of you that may have the time to try and assist. Thanks everyone...she is new to detecting/treasure hunting, so that would be great if we could help her with this, as this being her and her husband's first true find. Thanks guys...will post the photo of the pendant now..

It is a Saint Christopher medal.

The legend of St. Christopher attributed to the medal often worn by Catholics or Orthodox Christians is the story of a tall, robust man who once served a great king. Seeing the king cross himself at the mention of the devil, Christopher left his service to seek out Satan, who was obviously stronger than the king who feared him. Christopher found a band of criminals, and among them was a man who claimed to be the devil. Christopher offered his services to the man but not for long because soon the devil was seen avoiding a cross. Christopher realized that the devil feared Christ, so he left his service and came upon a hermit in prayer. The hermit told Christopher that in order to serve Jesus he could pray and fast, but Christopher did not think this would suit him. As an alternative, the hermit suggested that because of his size Christopher might do well helping people across a dangerous river. This Christopher did for some time.
One day a small child arrived to be carried across. Christopher took the child upon his shoulders, and as he crossed the river, the child grew heavier until Christopher was almost unable to carry him and feared he would drown. When he asked the child why he was so heavy, the child revealed himself as Jesus Christ. He replied that he was heavy with the weight of the world's sins.
Christopher successfully got the Christ child across the water and was rewarded by having his staff turned into a tree

you know, I could not remember the saint of children. *hangs head in shame* Thank you savant...If you would like to post that to her on the forum there, please feel free to. Only thing i wonder is how old that one if the pic would be. She doesn't say where it was found exactly, but she is in New Brunswick Canada. It appears to have at least some age to it.

that's what i was wondering too. after you id'd whom it was for lack of a better word, i tried searching for "st christopher cross" "antique st chris cross* and came up with nada as well. Wow. Thats cool....my word, please let her know of this ID, you at the very least solved 3/4 of it. Hopefully one of us or someone else will be able to find another like this, or something even close, so as we could even try to give it a roundabout time period that it was made. Again, thank you for the help savant. You're cool in my book. ;)
