Need some help on ID's---please CW experts

I was metal detecting some fields of an old home site with my detecting buddy G4E.
I found 2 general service CW buttons....cool.
I also found a button with the number 2 wrapped in a bugle and a maltese cross medal (?).
I could really use some help identifying what these two items may be. Thanks in advance.

Great finds. I no nothing about buttons, I know the horn on a hat is infantry, but that's just my swag. An expert will come along and inform us soon I hope.

This is as close as I can come on a short search. The center medal is closest to yours, and it's post civil war, Women's Relief Corps.
medals.webp The button might be post civil war also, indicating an infantry outfit???

I didn't find an exact match, but I think (somewhat a guess) that what you have is a British Infantry button. There are several with the horn on the internet, but not an exact match. Someone will come along and give you a more definitive answer.

A picture or description of the backs of both may help

Nhbenz....the back is tough to read but I can make out the following: Ross Ho(can't read the rest) Mfg Co
It's a two piece button....with the shank still attached.

Here is what I found in the first third of this webpage : (Initially from a very old French book about all 19th century military buttons and some others from the same century)

These buttons belong to the French "light infantry", both very early 19th century. 1807 or so, possibly earlier.

Not to say that this is the button you have, I am pretty confident what you have is a military button, early 19th century. Now, is it French...? No idea. I guess this design must have been shared by some/many countries. See dug gap button which is British, with a very close design.

Thanks Taltahull....that is amazingly similar. Thanks for the website too. I believe it is an American button...based upon the back of the button. I appreciate you looking into it.

It's a great looking button, Dan. I'm a sucker for a good post horn, and that is a beaut! I always wonder, when I see them, of the symbolism behind the use.

Just found out that the US 2nd regiment of Riflemen looks a lot like yours ! The one I saw is not a two piece though...
