I live on the battlefield of Roanoke Island NC and anytime I put a shovel into the yard I always scan for some treasure! I have found plenty of modern nails ans such but a few period pieces that were not very impressive. Yesterday while looking for property markers I found what I relive to be a .50 spent bullet. Can any one tell me more about this bullet, please?

Thanks.

Sure, it hit something hard! :laughing7: Sorry, I couldn't resist. Maybe the bullet experts can get you more info. GL and HH.

Yes really hard. I pray it was a tree or something. Thanks

Nice bullet find, congrats! :occasion14:

I found one today, but modern then a musket ball in the same farm field! :icon_thumleft:

It “could be” any number of civil war carbine slugs I.e. Maynard, Smith, Star etc. it would be hard to tell after that hard hit

Looks like you have a great hunting spot I bet theres tons of cool relics there

Welcome to tnet

Bad news is that a lot of the dry earth areas for MD is owned by the US Park Service. And they are rather sticky about being on their ground with a MD.
