I would recommend taking individual closeup pics of each piece outside in the natural light, then post them here! The lighting used is distorting the vein material and I am unsure as to what it could be.

Okay Frank, thank you for the reply, ill get some pics out side tommarrow. Ill try to get some good ones of the outside as well as the vein.

Are my pics coming through well enough, it only says thumbnail on my side but I can blow it up by clicking on it.............I do understand the lighting is important when veiwing a pic, I should have known better, haha. Anyway ill take some better ones in the natural light and post them tommarrow, thanks again. Dan

While the newer pics help, I am still uncertain as to what it is! It has a silvery appearance but I can't be sure that is what I am seeing or if it is just glare. Based on the black appearance with white spots, I am going to say Hornblende but that is probably wrong.

Thank you for trying, While it does appear silvery, I would say some of that is decieving, the crystalization is kinda like Pyrite in that different angles of it really shine, I would call the color of it more Charcoal........lets see if I can blow it up more.

Those are not white spots, that is glare, like I say the crystilization really shines on the differnt angles, kinda like pyrite does When the light hits it. The blac spots would be the spots where the light is not hitting........... Would it help if I can figure out how to post a short video. The best way I can desribe it would be Charcoal colored fools gold, lol.

I still have no clue if it is Hornblende or something else! The texture of both the rock and the seam or vein makes the picture appear to be pixelated out and the glare from what you say is silvery stuff, doesn't help either. I doubt that a video would help and this is something that only an up close and personal inspection of the rock and the seam/vein is in order. If you can find a Geologist or Rock/Gem Shop in your area, they might be able to help.

Okay Frank, thanks for your time. Also I said the silvery look was decieving. There is no silver or white specs, those are glare, glimmer, shine. The vein itself is all a dark grey charcoal color and the vein glimmers and shines in the light like pyrite.

Thank you again ill see if I can find someone local to inspect it for me.

Have you done a streak test? And does the material crumble into ruff cube like bits or flakes? I'm inclined to think it might be pyrite or galena though they both tend to be bright when freshly broken.

I dont know what a streak test is but it does break into bits, not flakes....i will verify this today....
