Need some advice

Google the Bureau of Land Managements / Merced RIver Recreational Mnagement Area)...their website will have... a phone contact number (usually you got to talk to a person to really get the skinny on the facts.)...their website has maps for management area boundry...and current existing mining claims...

Thank you

I took a quick look at the map and it appears most of the area is a National Forest.

Some national forests require a permit for "recreational mining" (gold panning and using a detector) - good for a year. Some charge $1 - some forests they are free. Your best bet is to check in at the HQ of the Forest and make sure you are following the laws, rules, and regulations.

Take a look at "Hints for Gold Prospectors"

Good luck to all,

The Old Bookaroo
