stick your arm in first and feel for bones

I would. Any open dirt under an older house may hold old bottles coins or who knows what! Well watch out for snakes.

Nothing ventured ....... nothing gained. Why not.:hello:

All I can see is a bunch of old rusty cans, nasty Christmas decorations, and modernish bottles and jars...

Use a tool, like a hoe or rake if possible. Use anything but your hands until you know nothing else is there.

Tie/tape your camera to a long pole/broom handle and stick it back in as car as you can and pan it around a bit. May give you more of an idea what is back there or make you feel better about going in. Good luck!

No true treasure hunter could resist.

Get some dude to crawl around in there for you........no place for a lady!!!!

You should check it out though, people have hidden treasures since day one!!!!

Good Luck -

If kids can crawl through, they may have stashed a jar of money on top of the floor joist alongside the outside edge

Wear a good dust mask, and go hunting as you have to clean the crap up anyways.

Yes , investigate it - but use gloves and long sleeves (obviously you'll want to bring some light down there ) - I like the rake idea too !
I definitely second the dust mask idea !

Question is, 'why would you not?'

I did, posted a new thread: "under my old house"

In the threads started by me...

I would set off a bug bomb in there first. Last thing you want is a brown recluse or black widow spider.
