I found an old remington shotgun hull, the casing it self is long gone but the brass portion of it remains intact. on the bottom it is stamped

REM-UMC
No 12
NITRO CLUB

then around the edge (not on the bottom) it reads REMINGTON-UMC

If anyone could give me an approximate date of manufacture or any other infor mation it would be greatly appriciated
thanks

I have a small shotgun shell collection and have a whole box of them I got from my deceased Father-in-law.? The best I can figure he bought them after WWII perhaps in the early 1950s?? They have paper hulls which disentigrate over a few years in the ground.? I will try to post a picture if they are not sealed up.? Most of my boxes are sealed in clear plastic to preserve them.? ?JIM?

Nope, mine are sealed but the Nitro Cllub marking would make them older, so Sherm is probably right.? Sorry, I had a brainfart!

Heres a little history: E Remington: 1870-1890. Remington 1890-1911 then Combined with UMC to form
REM-UMC from 1911-1934. 1934 Dupont buys out Rem-UMC & Peters to form Remington Arms Co. as it still stands today

So yours is from 1911 to 1934 ;D

Not necessarily so Jack. I'm looking at a shell dating from the early fifties in my collection that has Rem-UMC Shur Shot on the bottom. I also have a box of shells from the late 40's to early 50's that says Remington- Peters on them. They carried those logos for several years after being bought out. JIM
