Need recommendations

Hi everybody! I need recommendations for a new detector, there are so many I'm confusing myself:) I have an 1100$ budget. What's the best I can get for my money? Thanks in advance!

Nokta Impact Pro Pack. Comes with coil covers, smaller coil, extra lower shaft, rechargeable batteries (and charger), a bi-pod, and rain/dust covers. It's got a backlit screen and headlight in the front of the control handle. It's also wireless, and I THINK it may work with any regular set of Bluetooth headphones.

The only reason I would suggest not getting it is if plan on hunting IN the water, as the machine isn't waterproof.

What are you looking for? Notka Racer 2, or Impact Pro Pack is a great choice, as well as a Minelab Safari; Tesoro Outlaw w/ 3-coil Pak; Fisher F75 :skullflag:

Thanks! I've never heard of this one. I'll check it out. What's your thoughts on the Garrett? I was looking to get one where the coil can go in a few feet of water also.

Thanks Terry! I'll definitely check these out!:) omg, I've got lots of YouTube viewing for tonight:) you have awesome finds!

How many is a "few" to you? Because the Impact, for example, is good for maybe two. But as I said, if you're going to be IN the water, even if it's just a few inches, I would look at the waterproof machines. Because all it takes is one slip on a rock or piece of wood and your machine is toast.

There are so many to choose from my friend! But if it were ME, as a coinshooter, my top choice would be a used Etrac. Although it's a machine where you have to use a slower swing speed. I started with a Garrett AT Gold, then after learning more about what my hunting style would end up being I upgraded to the Etrac not long after. The Etrac is awesome because of the amount of info it provides on what's in the ground, through its use of multi tones sounds and vdi numbers, especially when it comes to coins. So if I were to get another machine the ones I would be looking at would be; Nokta Impact, Makro racer 2, Fisher f75 Ltd, or XP Deus. I also bought my 1st detector, AT Gold, brand new but then my Etrac used and if I were to buy any other machine I would defiantly try and go the used route again. But that's just me!

CJayC, not too deep of water, shallow creeks and such. I'm mostly looking for a good coin and jewelry detector for the dirt, but one that can also go in shallow water as well. I'm new to this so any info would be much appreciated. Thank you:)

Divine Profit, thank you so much. You are right about there being so many to choose from. My mind is boggled. I read good and bad reviews on so many that I just can't make up my mind. I'm gonna research all that you all have recommended. Thank you for your help:)

You can take the Impact into shallow water like creeks and streams just fine. But keep in mind that you'll either have to hold it while you're retrieving your targets or use a harness of some sort to prevent it from going into the water. In my opinion, I wouldn't risk taking any non-waterproof machine into the water with me. At water's edge is fine, but not actually into it.

Given your budget, the ATMax is certainly in your range. The drawback, though, is it could still be a couple months before you'd be able to get one, depending on how fast Garrett is able to produce and ship them out, and how many preorders there are and how much inventory the dealers actually get in stock.

I don't know a thing about the MXSport. A lot of people love it, and I've heard others not so much.

Quest Metal Detectors is releasing their Q20 and 40 machines sometime this year I believe. They're completely waterproof and are within your budget as well. iDetect (YT channel) is actually using one right now in his videos.

Also, in a couple weeks (the 16th), Minelab will be announcing a new machine of their own. Might be worth waiting to hear all the details about that before making a commitment.

Whites mx sport is a great beginner friendly machine with enough depth and features got prevent the need for an upgrade soon. water proof, come in under 800 so you have money left for pin pointer and shovel. I absolutely love mine and it's been just killing it.

Thanks Tpmetal! I've got my pinpointer already, a macro. Works really well. Need to get a good cutting/digging knife. Been using my garden spade and small kitchen knife. Works ok but I need something sharper. I have an old bounty hunter machine I've been using and I've found lots of stuff but I think it's time for a better model. I'm sure I'm missing lots of stuff with my detector. I have an opportunity to detect an old 1700 farmhouse and I'm hoping to have something better by then. Been detecting for about a month now and I love it!

Most expensive is often not the best for what you want it for. For 1100 bucks you can get a New F75, a new Tesoro Compadre and a used Fisher Gold Bug 2. That will cover your needs plus give yourself a chance to expand your parameters IMO.
Having only one detector is like driving with no spare or detecting with no extra batteries.

You don't have to drop a grand to get a great machine. I started with an el cheapo 3 tone detector (TC-1023) and the detecting bug hit hard. I then upgraded to a Fisher F4 where my love affair with the DD coil emerged. 6 months later I wanted to go deeper and was looking at both the T2 and the F75 with boost. I ended up buying all the gear from a gentleman (from western PA) who had to leave the hobby due to health reasons. His main machine was the F75LTD. Most of my great finds could have been found using a nice mid level detector. Just know that having a few coils will better help you exploit areas. Small coil for trashy areas, large coil for target sparse areas such as fields. I have bought most of my machines used. Many people by a top end detector thinking they are going to find big treasure and get surprised at how much trash they dig and give up on this hobby and sell their detector well under retail. I use the Kellyco site where I can review specs of up to 4 detectors (side by side). I hope you have an idea as to what info you want to see on the screen. Also do you like the Garrett bell tones or the standard tones of First Texas products. You might like the bwoop-bwoop sounds of the Minelab machines. Be aware of the detector weight since if you are like me and hunt for 4 or more hours at a time.

Good luck in what ever machine you choose.

Every metal detector has a water-proof coil. So you can put the coil in water. Depending on how rough the water is you can go from a couple of inches to about 2'. It's the electronics box you have to protect from water. Unless of course you have a water-proof detector.

Several years ago I read about someone who made an Ace 250 water-proof. I don't remember if it was here on TreasureNet or in Western and Eastern Treasures magazine. Basically he used a water-proof locking lid kitchen container and silicon caulk.

If it's just fresh water you will be hunting, I'd get an AT Pro and save the rest of your money for accessories and/or upgrades at a future date. Maybe get a new Lesche digger, a waterproof pin pointer (if yours isn't waterproof), a GOOD sand scoop if needed in your hunting, and a good metal detecting shovel for work out in the fields/forests.

Call DENNIS at METALDETECORS,COM for great prices on the detector of your choice great service
