my first pair were 'father day specials' from my girls-- Red Balls lasted long enough but were so covered with rubber cement and plastic bags, I was an environmental disaster in the makin' !!! so just two years ago I got a pair of Pro Line 'best of best' from Dick's S.G. and now they leak from to many cracks. I wanna get serious on a pair of waders that I can use and abuse while detecting lakes and salt waters. Also good for the 'mud seasons' as I might want to do plowed farm fields in the rain. I am considering the La Crosse Teal II's---I don't expect to need anything in the dead of winter but some insolation is needed. Any advice is welcome. hope to hear back soon as the 'season is upon us' with the state parks closed now--thanks, da Prof ♬♬
ps, I hunt from the Finger Lakes region of N.Y. to Cape Cod Beaches--
pss, I hunt with a 1280X, 'Beach Bully' scoop and considering a new Garret AT--- and advice on the AT welcome also

I'm not sure if there is a set of waders that will last one full season. Even drysuits seem to have the same issues handling the constant pull, push and stretch. Each seems to need constant up keeping when you hunt 3 or 4 days a week. Good Luck

Well, after wasting my money on three different waders from Crappy Tire (Don't ask) that leaked after a couple of uses, I went to Cabella's and not only did my chest waders cost less, but they have a lifetime warranty and still haven't leaked 5 years later!

Never found any that lasted more than one use before leaking

I make mine from duck tape.....works wonders. That is until you go in the water but hey they LOOK good....

I switched over from a full body wet suit to a Farmer John type wet suit. (Much easier to get in and out of) I don't know about using them in a plowed field but they have protected me against cold water and parasites.
I have used the AT PRO and it worked flawlessly in
FRESH WATER. For salt water I use the Excalibur.
You can check out this site to get an idea of prices on a wet suit. If you go with a wetsuit, you will also need dive boots. leisurepro.com

Same here. $100 AU. Leaves shoulders to move freely. I just got the 3/2mm

thanks for the tip, M.H., can you tell me which set of waders they are, or just any thing from Cabella's ? I would need reinforced knees fer sure--

thanks for all the info, I do like the idea of a 'quick slip' in and out of waders, but for a long day at it, the 'half wet suit' just might be in my future'----

Actually, it was Cabella's own brand of waders. I've given them a good workout and so far no leaks after almost 6 seasons.
Cheers.

All I can say is that you get what you pay for. Look for a good brand and maybe more importantly, be sure to purchase from a retailer that will stand behind them.

Oh and the AT Pro! Yes....very good machine. Loves gold and silver. I actually prefer the AT Pro over the Excal II in target rich areas due to the Excal's long recovery delay. Now if Garrett could make a salt friendly version of the AT Pro, I would be stoked. The ATX maybe??
But if you are hunting area's with low mineralization, the AT Pro is a wonderful machine for the price.

thanks for this info, U.P., I do the Gulf and Cape Cod beaches when I get down and out thata way with my 1280X, but the chatter is so great, it's hard to detect anything deep. I was hoping to hear better of better results from the G.A.T.- still, I think I'l give it a go. As soon as the coffers ge deep again, or the next diamond ring I dig---- da Prof--
