There should be a vehicle ID number on the steering neck even if was a dirt bike. (the part of the frame that holds the front fork assembly on). That would answer make, model, and year.

Judging by the high lift back, it's some sort of off-road bike...cool find, hope it can be restored.

Yeah, we're not going that far with it lol... I'll ask him to get the VIN the next time he sees it

I think it is probably a Japanese dirt bike frame and probably not worth much more than scrap. I sell vintage motorcycle parts and frames are always the hardest part to get rid of unless they are something special. I recently sold 6 Triumph 1970s frames for $50 on ebay. The guy paid but never came to get them. Shipping is outraigious because of the size. Please don't think of restoring a bike when all you have is a frame. You could buy a perfect bike for half of what you can build one from a frame.

Nah, we're not... he dug it outta the ground a few years ago and now just uses it as a trail marker. I was curious if anyone on here could ID it by sight. No more than that.

I sent a 'snip' of your bike frame to a friend that's owns a bike shop in Sioux City Iowa, (Harris Bro's Cycle), He said it's an early 70s Honda, (probably a 175), and like was mentioned earlier, the numbers on the neck will pos'ID it. Not much value there.
