"Practically , the making of soft-paste Sevres porcelain ceased in 1795, .... and the old Sevres mark-the double Louis,.... the two script letters L, interlacing and facing each other (the L standing for "Louis") died out of use soon after the sixteenth Louis died on the scaffold of the guillotine in the Place de la Concorde (in 1793), near the spot where the sister obelisk to Cleopatra's Needle now stands."

The Sevres letter and numbering system was in effect between 1745 and 1793.

We are not looking at a pure old mark but a later one. Thats the first thing I started looking for was later marks. Dont think early but later 1800's style. The piece is large and ornate, Old..but not true early Sevres.
