This post has nothing to do with metal detecting, but im hoping someone can help me.
When i lived in the city i had high speed internet and now that i live in the country i have slow dial up.
heres the question/problem, when i had high speed internet i had no problems getting to my yahoo messenger or mail, but since ive been on dial up, i can not get to my yahoo mail and when i try to log into my messenger it says something like, your attempt to log into messener has failed, try again later.
any suggestions on what i should do or try?
the computer people want $50 to $100 just to run a diagnostic on it...
please help me,
ALLEN

Have you tried running spyware and virus scans? If that don't work, you might have to upgrade your computer or go back to DSL.

had the same prob recently. i just go to att.net on search and 3rd or 4th site down the list says log in att. net and i go there and desk top web page pops up and messenger is there . hopes this helps you

yeah sounds like the provider you have dialing into doesn't have the memory for you

I use dial up and have no problems other than slow as heck

going back to dsl is a last option right now.
it will cost me $129 for them to come here , hook it up and get it going, then it is $69 a month.
Someone said they thought that my computer still thinks it is on dsl and i need to reconfigure it, anyone know how to do that?
any help is appreciated,
Allen

I`m curious about the $129 to have them come out since DSL uses existing phone lines and a simple filter that plugs into the phone jack is usually all that's needed. (plug in filter, filter has two jacks, one for the phone, one for the modem)

Is your house older that it may require updated phone wiring?

i think they will charge me for their travel time, the first months bill and a charge to set the bo up that leads to the computer.
the worse thing is, this company is the only one that serves my area, the rest says we aretoo far out in the country.
we are only like 10 miles from the city limits..
thanks for the help everyone,
Allen

Does anyone run the web from a satellite dish?

It's available here, but I've never used it.

They're lying to you. There are several providers in your area.
