Thank you guys for your replies. I sent a message to the original poster in hopes of finding any more info about the button. If I hear anything, I will add to the post.

Thanks for bringing up my old post. Great memories on that one. :)

About all I can tell you is that this is a commemorative button from some early period, and it was unique enough to be listed in Albert's button book. I can't remember if the book said the reason it was produced, I'll check with Bedford Bob tomorrow and see if he can refresh my memory. I can say that I found a lot of 1820-1830s artifacts at this site, and there were zero modern items to be found there. The 1886 time frame you mentioned in your PM seems to be a bit later than what I would expect for this button.

Thank you for your quick reply. The design of the statue did begin in 1870 and the arm and torch were displayed during the '70s. At this point, I jump to the assumption that there was no lady liberty prior to this time. if I am wrong, someone please correct me.
We found a number of flat plain buttons at this site and several large cents. Newer items such as bullets and maybe a few coins were found here but there is a definite gap between the old and the new. We don't know when the cabin was last inhabited and it was torn down some time ago. Unfortunately, the old cellar has been filled in with large rocks.
