Looks to me like a 1920s baseball pitcher.

I know you said you saw others of this same design on the net - I'm just going to post a few links so the other members here see some of them too. It might help with a further search- but I think it is going to be tricky to find out more info.. maybe an old department store catalog from the era would have something.

Heavy, cast metal. Shaped like a giant baseball, raised image of him with the raised seams of the ball showing. Has area beneath his feet for engraving - but this one has not been engraved. Nice patina. excellent and unusual. 115.00

Hello Bramblefind. Thanks very much for the reply and the links. I agree, without any engraving on the piece, it will be tough to find out any more about it.

How is the hunting in NY?
