I found this WWI medal this week and was looking for help finding out what this medal was awarded for. One side reads.."For Faithful State Service In The Field During The World War". The other side reads.."Presented By The State Of New York 1917 1918 1919." There is also a number stamped into it on this side, "163". I'm assuming that number would be the ID of who it was issued to. I'd like to be able to find out what this medal was issued for and possibly even find out if there is a way to find out who it was given to. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

It's a Veteran or Commemorative medal issued by the State of New York to WWI Veterans. Not an official Military issued award, typically worn by Veterans during parades and reunions. Veteran, Commemorative medals are still made today for just about every military action, achievement etc.

If I was to add Veteran and Commemorative medals to my rack, it would double the size of my rack and it wouldn't fit on my uniform.......LOL.
