Need info on deeper targets

I have been hunting an area that used to be a amusement park. I have found two rings and 3 silver coins on this 100 acre prop. so I know its been hit alot. There was a dance pavilion over the edge of a lake that was huge. I know the area arount the pav. has been hunted out. The pavilion burned in 1918 and I dug some hits in the burn area, there is 4" of soil then a 2" layer of soot so there is a lot of nails in the soot layer. I think there should be some treasures under soot layer. My question is, are the nails going to screw me up on target id if I get a bigger coil for my QXT Pro.

Sure will! Do the opposite, get a smaller coil and try to get in between the nails. Or do what I do, get rid of all the nails then look for good stuff. Just remember if you go my route then leave at least a day for the soil to get rid of the iron halo where the nails once were. GL HH
