It looks art deco... the period covering 1920 - 1939ish. (A style lasting from basically 1900 through the late 1950s) .

You have a Monocraft Monogram (or initial) Brooch. They made these during the late 1920s and early 1930s.

Update: I just read that many were heavily gold plated.

Thanks very much, Thats a lot more than I knew about it. That old home is still there. I might just try to go back there again one day.

Could be - but, most likely someone's personalized initials. They also made purse pins and luggage pins with individual's initials of choice.

The initial are "DAB". The family that lived in the home was relatives of mine. The last name was "BERRY".
