Jeff, was the brass piece attached to the leather when you found it? It looks like a ladies filigree hair barrette; the type for putting up really long hair, and it had a stick that threaded through the middle. I've seen the filigree type with and without leather. Interesting find, Breezie

I Pulled the leather out first then
the Metal part.

The Probe & Detector said more there
but was so Tiny, I Gave up trying to see what I Was detecting.

acted like Metal Flakes,
Moving almost continuosly

Jeff, after looking at the leather, there is no place to put the stick to hold the hair as shown in pic 2 & 3, so I'm going with some type of wrist cuff or the likes. There are quite a bit of filigree & leather do-dads for ladies hair, earrings, tie belts, cuffs, etc. Yours could have been a ponytail holder without the stick, but a rubber type band attached on the other side. Check to see if it looks like there was an attachment there.
