Need ID on brass tray marked "WMW"
I picked this up at a thrift store. It had some severe corrosion so it was only $5. After stipping the patina & crud off I found the "WMW" mark. The tray appears to be fairly old and is very well made. The handles are riveted on, not screwed. It's big - 22" X 17" without the handles. The only thing I can find about a mark using WMW is a sword maker in Germany. Any info would be appreciated.
BTW, if any of you need to strip brass quickly spray the item with Dow Scrubbing Bubbles, let it sit until the bubbles thin out, hit it again with the Dow, then rinse off. For heavy corrosion you can use 0000 steel wool & scrub a bit. To re-patina the item spray it with Lemon Pledge. In about 6 weeks it will have a fairly nice patina & not look so stripped.
This tray had a huge, black area on it. It looked like someone spilled coke or coffee on it & let it sit. The scrubbing bubbles took it right off.
