Dug a few items in a yard that is in our local historical district this house is pre civil war ,
1 i think is a coin due to the rim it has around it , but can not see any shape on the face or back .

a second item i think may be a section of a barrel of a gun due to the shape . it being concave . but its to thick to be a section of pipe, its 2 5/8 long 1 1/8 wide and 3/8 thick and heavy.

another item looks like a locking hook mechanism.
a cool aluminum button marked patten 1923'
the object next to it is rusted really bad but it looks like a iron button ? reason why i think this is it looks like 2 holes were in the middle but have filled in with rust.
a lead disc which i have no idea if it was a ball some one smashed , i thought it was a coin untill i washed it and seen it is lead.
another item looks like it was square but some of its missing , maybe a buckle ?
would love any ideas or comments . 2012 ans nash zoo 002.webp

You might have a few goodies there! The "L" shaped thing looks to be part of a shoe buckle. That coin (if it is a coin) next to the quarter, it has the size and the appearance of a Rosa Americana twopence. Your looking at 1722 or 1723 if it is! Post some better pictures if you can.

i tried a black background to see if it helps , but the coin is built up with so much rust i can not see any shape on the face or back, but there is a very definate rim around the edge. if there are any tips on something that would clean it up i would love to hear.its just really in nasty shape.

as for the possible buckle , i took a picture of the back this time also , and you can see a tab/bump on one corner . if it was a buckle maybe thast where the post was attached that held it on .

i have only hit a small part of the front yard due to the fact my 12 year old son/partner was losing the drive to dig ( took 15 minutes to dig his last hole while laying on his side ) possibly due to lack of food , since he had not eaten in 3 hours. but i plan on going back . the yard really has me messed up , i found brick and coal chunks every where i dug..make me think fill dirt over the whole place.

Use this link to get info on the Rosa Americana. See if the size matches up. There was a T Netter that used electrolysis on a very toasted Rosa and was able to get some good detail. Don't use chemicals to clean it at this point.
