That is a piece of "Putherrite." When you find a specimen like that, you "put her right" in the garbage.

Countrycody16, perhaps I am a little bit more patient with "newcomer errors" (like blurry photos) because I can still remember what it's like to be a newbie.

At least you included something in the photo (your fingers) for size-comparison, so at least we have a somewhat accurate idea of the mystery object's size.

From the little I can make out in the blurry photos, your mystery object may be a coal clinker (slag from burned coal). Surprisingly, coal-clinkers sometimes give an iron reading on a metal detector. So maybe that's what you found.

Where did you dig 'em? We had little iron nodules like that all over East Texas. I used to find 'em when I was a kid.
