Couple more pics out of frame

Seems pencil underneath and looks like chalk/water color

Some natural light

I'm pretty sure this is not a amateur artist

Did my best to enhance the signature, but not sure
it's much of an improvement.

What I can see is: Akron Ohio, 1925
My best guess of the name is "D. Lakers"

Here's my best guess.... If it's right, and I hope it is (but who knows) there is an example of his work for sale, "price on request."

https://www.1stdibs.com/creators/kenneth-r-nunamaker-1890-1957-united-states/art/paintings/landscape-paintings/

Biography Kenneth Nunamaker
A prominent member of the New Hope School, Kenneth R. Nunamaker was born in Akron, Ohio in 1890. He traveled west at the age of seventeen, herding cattle for a living. This marked the beginning of Nunamaker's artistic "training". He painted in his spare time, translating the landscape around him into shapes on his canvas. Nunamaker received his official training in the art department of the Akron Engraving Company in Ohio. He moved to the Philadelphia area in 1918 and became the art director of Hoedt Studios. He moved to Center Bridge, Pennsylvania in 1923 where he developed a close association with members of the New Hope School.

After another look, I don't think my guess is correct. ; ( Would have been a truly valuable find.

I still think it is a listed artist by the way it is done though

As usual, I'm too stubborn to give up when trying to solve
a mystery..8-)

Tried dozens of processes, and think this is the best it's
gonna get without the photo being taken by a high end
DSLR, and even that may not help much.

What I see there is:

Lake?r
Akron Ohio 1925

The "D" preceding "Lake?r" appears as an impression on the
background rather than being part of the signature.

Dizzy try these pics. This thing is going to drive me nuts because I know this is by a listed artist I think this was done in pencil or something then chalk I see pencil under the ink signature

Try taking a pic with a light behind the picture, lighting
up the signature through the canvas.

Not much more I can do with the pics above, so let's try
a back-lit version and see if that highlights more detail.

Sometimes it takes a while to get things "just right", but
once we do the signature should be discernible.

Lay the picture flat and stand in front of it and look at the writing from a sharp angle, from bottom to top.

There is a way if you hold it on angle you can see more but I cant get it in a picture could be wrong but it seems almost scratched in at some places

To me the first letter of first name is an E like a backwards 3.
