Need help with some CW relic's?

Hey guy's, I need some help identifying some relics. Some buddies and I were hunting on some private land near Crampton's Gap in Maryland and found some great relics. We found some bullets, and other unknown items. The first item looks like a rivet of some sort? Could it be a cuffling? The other item is cap like with a rod coming out of the top? Not sure if it could be a top to a medicine container, or is it related to munitions some how? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks E-Ness.

Re: Need help with some CW relic's?

The first is a grommet and could have come off a knapsack or saddle or harness. Common find on CW sites. The second is a pretty neat find. It is a tompion. The nail like shaft would have been coated in cork and it was inserted in the end of the barrell. It would keep rain and other matter out of the gun.

Thankyou so much. In the first post I forgot to mention that there is still cork in the top cap part, and that both items are were brass. Thanks again for helping me with identifying the finds. Happy hunting.
