Found this silver spoon with maker mark AN on it in a field that i have found some early 1800s items. Looked for a while on line to try to find info and couldnt find any. There are so many to look through. Has WDL inscribed on it which i will be asking the Local Historical society about. There was possibly a civil war camp somewhere in this field also. Any info would be awesome. Thanks for reading 88AA1A53-E4F8-4FD0-A86B-19C1050AB196.jpeg5BB4FEEF-9DA0-41CB-B56F-F71079C548EE.jpeg14DC8981-9540-4521-895B-982771DFC3C5.jpeg

Thats is so cool Ive never got on yet

Wow , what a nice find ! Can't help much with ID, in terms of style it's easily old enough for CW period - the style of the engraving on the handle , and the stylized shell design at the back of the bowl - place your spoon a good bit earlier than CW - closer to Revolutionary War , Great Find !

Hi, wow that is a nice silver find. Congrats:icon_thumright:

That’s an awesome spoon, all the ones I find here in Massachusetts come up in pieces and usually pewter or plated, nice job!!

Thank you to Nancy for this info. Pretty sure this is about correct

Very nice. With the shell motif on the back, I would probably put it earlier in the Chippendale period, late 1700's. It's a beauty.

Circa 1770s. Totally awesome to find an actual pic and info on it. Ty again Nancy. Pre dates the four generations of owners of the land. Cant wait to tell them more about it

That's one of the nicer silver spoons I've seen. Congrats on a great save.
