The stock coil is fine for most situations. The Sunray X-8 is a good coil for more trashy areas and it is very stable, gives good depth and separation. The X-5 is even better in heavily iron infested old homesites in 2TF but the trade off is less ground coverage. What is the best search coil for e-trac for coin and rings in parks.
There's a new 10x5 Treasureseeker coil that is fully submersible. The older Joey was not waterproof. I've never used one on the Etrac but have traded for one with Keith at Fort Bedford for one to use on the Sovereign GT. Great dealer to talk about which coil will work for you and superb service. What the opinion on the 10x5 Elliptical Joey Coiltec coil for E-Trac.
I use one whenever the stock coil or the 15" WOT is too much coil for the trash. It works great. You get the advantage of decent ground coverage but can isolate a good signal in a junky area with the TTF setting. Depth isn't as good as the others but for most areas it's sufficient. In wide open areas with little trash, the WOT is my weapon of choice. It's still sensitive to small targets (I find jean rivets and stud earrings with it!) but allows you to cover lots of ground and find deeper targets than the stock and Joey. What the opinion on the 10x5 Elliptical Joey Coiltec coil for E-Trac.
