Need help with id

Hey guys, I found this relic last year in Tennessee on a Union cavalry campsite. It is 10 1/2 inches long and 5 1/2 inches wide and made of cast iron. It is very ornate and seems to bear a union emblem near the bottom. It was also attached to something from behind but broke off. Please help! relicdigger3@comcast.net

Maybe part of a door knocker ?

Doorknocker plate.... possibly the door was used as a table and then abanndoned.

I agree door knocker, the middle part looks like where the knocker itself would be attached.

First thought was - a funiture drawer pull

Second - Key hole cover, the one which swang out the way. The shield at the bottom would cover the key hole.
