I found both of these items in the same place. I haven't a clue as to what either of them are. In the first pic I have included a boot for size ref. the item has the top left section broken off and on the top right notice the 2-piece swivel joint. It has the word " Simplex " on it. The second is about the same diameter as a Half Dollar with about a 3/4 " lip all the way around. Very comparable in size to the plastic screw top on a 3 liter soda bottle. The words are in reverse and pressed inward. If the letters were protruding out I would say some sort of stamp. The print says " Crescent News Company, Price 5 Cents. Any help would be appreciated.

Came from an old school so I would say that would probably be correct. Thanks..

The bench/deck legs appears to have writing around the lowest arch. Could be a further clue.

The Crescent News cap may be from a snuff tin or similar. Too large for a cigar tube. Locally we had a "News" shop that sold newspapers, magazines and tobacco products.

Could the iron object be part of an old Singer sewing machine? If not,I`d go with the school desk theory.

Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

The small metal item is part of a collapsible aluminium cup. The letters are reversed because it was die-stamped and that’s the underside:

The company name in full was the “Crescent News & Hotel Company” which operated news stands and cigar stores at several locations in New Orleans from the 1880’s until the 1930’s." The owner and president was John H. Conniff, who had a number of other large business interests.
