I found these copper pieces on Corrigan's Beach of the Treasure Coast at lo-tide after Tropical Storm Faye. Could they be from one of the 1715 or 1618 Spanish shipwrecks or is it modern? The waves threw them up because they are lightweight. They were still pretty deep and severely corroded. I soaked in fresh water for a couple days trying to stabilize them in case they are something.
Does anyone know what this copper nipple could be? All guesses are welcome.

I suspect the largest piece is a copper-tubing reducer. Like to reduce 3/8 inch tubing to 1/8 inch tubing. The easiest way to find out is to take it to a plumbing supply and see if they can match it.

I do A/C work and I thought about that. I also do plumbing. I have never seen a reducer this size. The large size is too large to fit on 3/8 and too small for 1/2 inch. The small size is an odd size as well (smaller than 1/4 inch) I can post pics later comparing to modern plumbing and/or A/C pipe.

This is what makes me curious.. It does not match with modern American plumbing or A/C copper pipe sizes. But thanks for trying to help. I appreciate it and I need more suggestions.

I am sure that it is the end of a fuse as part of a lightning arrestor used in conjunction with open aerial lines and were installed in homes so that the telephone wouldn't be blown off the wall.
The first fuses had a wooden dowel with caps as above, either end, and the fuse wire up the middle.
Later fuses were ceramic.........
Hope this is correct....or I have just wasted another 2 mins of my life ;D

Looking at other fuses....these are definitely the ends to the long bits of the fuse
Cheers

Thanks Akiwi. I wish your pic was clearer. I will look for other pics. Do you have the link? Could these be used on a boat?

I guess i was hoping it was part of an old musket or oil lamp. :icon_scratch:
