found this small button 9/16" today on the plantation, it has a eagle on the front and says cadet usma, the backmark says scovills & co.. is ti old?

found next to this lead piece 1/4" thick about the size of a nickle,one side domed, the other side has a indintion.

It is a cuff-size West Point (United States Military Academy) cadet's uniform button. The "Scovills & Co." backmark dates it to strictly from 1840 to 1850, the year the company's name was changed to Scovill Manufacturing Company. See the "Schools & Universities" section of the Albert button-book, button SU-7A.
