Need help with a maker's mark on what may be part of an early trefid spoon

Found this at a site yesterday that according to research dates back to the mid-to-late 1600s. A buckle I found there also confirms this time period. I was told by someone replying to my original post on the Today's Finds forum that this is a trefid spoon bowl from the same period. It has a maker's mark on the inside of the bowl that includes a "D" as well as an image of some sort of game bird. I tried looking online to ID this mark but didn't have any luck. Hopefully someone here can confirm the age of this piece as well as ID the maker's mark. Thanks for your help ..... Bill

These are circa 17th C. I can see the bird/dove with I G (maybe I C). I have no books on markers marks but see a couple of similar types of marked spoon:
Record ID: SOM-9D6755 - POST MEDIEVAL spoon - Database
Record ID: WAW-24FB62 - POST MEDIEVAL spoon - Database
Record ID: SUR-759730 - POST MEDIEVAL spoon - Database

Thanks Cru. At least I can confirm it's from an early spoon. The maker's mark may be difficult to ID, especially since the details are hard to see. But to me it looks like an "I" above the bird, a "D" to the left, and a "P" below. Maybe someone else can definitively ID this mark. Thanks again as always for your input ..... Bill

It could be D I but I think they only come with 2 Initials (the I of course will be a J)

Just shows the experts can't ID the makers mark either, but at least we know its 17th C & its a DI.

Thanks a bunch Matt - you hit it right on the head. That's exactly the same spoon bowl and marking as the one I dug yesterday. Now I have to go and find the other one I have stored away somewhere. Thanks again ..... Bill

Great 17th century find! You were very lucky to have a maker's mark to work with.
