The torch pin is brass, weighs a half ounce and was made by N.S. Meyers, New York. Meyers made military pins and insignias dating to the civil war so more than likely it relates to the military. Meyers made a ROTC torch collar insignia pins like these http://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Army-ROT...176?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415b82bdd8 but the torch on this pin looks like something a miner would have used. There was a lot of coal and steel ore mining in this area in the 1900s so I'm wondering if the pin had something to do with mining.

The half egg shaped screw top item is probably brass and originally had a thin layer of copper clad. Weighs about a half ounce and is about 1-1/2" in dia. by 1-1/2" tall. What did this go to?

The brass or copper cigar shaped (electrical connector?) was made by 'Reliable'. There are a couple of internal springs but only one spring compresses. There is a hole on each end. Weighs approx. 2-1/2 oz. What was the main purpose for this wire connector if that is what it is?

The cigar shaped thing reminds me of a tension spring for an electric fence but I couldn't find anything like it.

This morning I saw a similar cigar shaped connector on a high voltage line. A retired phone company guy I was detecting with said that the phone company used the copper connectors years ago for making quick open phone wire break repairs. He only had experience with the aluminum version. The wire was pushed into the ends and fed out through the slots. The spring loaded clips inside pinched down on the wire.

Dozer dan I believe you nailed it. There's a very light 3/4" circular ring near the end of the cap. Good job.
