Hello,
Had a great hunt Memorial Day monday with 4 large cent finds. The big surprise came when I cleaned them up and found that 2 of them are Draped Bust! I am hoping that some of you can tell me a little more about them than that as they are a bit worse for wear.
The one on the left appears to have a possible die crack on the left hand side of the reverse. I am upset with myself, I overcleaned the reverse a hair and took off a lot of great detail in an effort to get a little dirt off the obverse. The fraction was nealry all visible, and now I cant see any trace of it.
The coin on the right is very rough, I can clearly see the bust if the coin is wet, but dry it is hard to pick out. If you want me to take pictures of it wet I will try, in a hurry to get to the beach atm. Also, is there any way to safely make it appear wet all the time? I think I have heard of some type of wax or vaseline, but I want to ask you pros before I make a move.
Thank you for your time and talent. These are my first Draped Busts(and oldest large cents), so they are special to me. I would love to know more about them.
