Was looking at some of my Wheats with a loupe when I noticed this apparent error in the 2 of the date. The base line is pushed up almost like a backwards S.

I tried to look up info on this but couldn't find anything. Can someone tell me if this is a common error and what type of error it should be classified as?

Thanks!

Chances are the number took a hit. Circulation damage. Not an error.

My guess is the end of that 2 was flattened during circulation, not at the mint. Error coins are mint errors and are only worth something if the error was in the actual dies that were stamping out the coins.
I have seen coins like that with crushed digits in the date and I've never seen an error type like that one mentioned.

Those weren't the answers I was hoping for, but thank you nonetheless. Post Mint Damage it is.
