I found this, what appears to be a coin, but more likely a medal or commemorative coin-like pendant. It reads "Maj. General Winfield Scott U.S.A. on the side with the name's sake profile. The back is quite a bit worn but I can barely make out the word "Wounded." This piece was obviously gold plated or gilted at one time because while rinsing it off gently in water I could easily see the gold coloring. I have no idea what this is. Wondering if anyone can help identify it.

1852 Winfield Scott "Wounded" Medal in Brass. Listed as Sullivan-Dewitt WS 1852-12, and measuring 28mm across. The obverse features a bust of Scott facing left, in full military attire. Around: "Maj. Gen. Winfield Scott U.S.A." and "H.W. Hayden SC." below the bust. The reverse inscription reads: "Scott Wounded - Lundy's Lane". The scene in the center shows numerous soldiers assisting a wounded Scott who is lying on the ground. The battle of Lundy's Lane took place in the War of 1812, and is considered to be one the bloodiest battles ever fought on Canadian soil. Scott's injuries and his bravery during a battle where all seemed lost would advance his career exponentially.

Thanks to everyone. This has been identified. The only questions I have left is who were these given to, and how many?
