I found this item a couple of days ago and have no idea what it is. It is brass and is hinged with a screw just behind the jaws. I'm calling the jaws the long duck bill looking parts. The other ends look like they are cut off, but one side is smooth and the other has a raised crease.
I have posted pics and would like some ideas and thoughts.

I don't know what these are but have seen many hog ring pliers. The lack of a groove in the jaws necessary to hold the ring in place is non existent and the physical size is far to small. Hogs greatly dislike the application of hog rings and the tool itself must be large enough to firmly grasp. I'll be interested to see if anyone can tell us what they really are. JB

Two Dogs I have to agree, all the hog ring pliers I ever saw had handles big enough to hold on to. These handles are only not even 2" long, the whole thing is only 2 1/2" long. I have been looking at them and see no way to use these to put a ring in a hogs nose, at least an adult hog, maybe a small piglet. I've been wrong before and could be wrong again, but I will let someone else use these to ring that big hogs nose. LOL
