Hello gang and fellow Thrift Store hunters. So I found this very interesting piece of stained glass. I picked it up and decided to spend the 6.99 on. As I was picking it up another thrift store junkie stopped me and said that's a good piece. I said I'm not sure but will see. She then asked to see the glass and I said sure. She looked it over and a gave it back. She then said the chain is a replacement that it would hang from but everything else is original. I said oh thank you. Then she said that's a nice piece and proceeded to tell me she runs a antique store out of California. she stated that's the star of David and it is unusual to be in yellow. She told me if I did not pick it up she was going to pick it up. So guess my question is how would you determine the age as it is wavy glass and has some tiny bubbles in it. The soldering seems to be old/original as it is starting to turn black in places and color change. I cannot find any others like this at all. its a great piece. I looked up yellow star of David when I got home seeing she said it was unusual to be in yellow and found it refers to Nazi Germany and Jewish people had to wear a yellow Star of David badge so the Nazi's could identify them as being Jewish. I am thinking this was either inside a Church? So any thoughts. Its a great piece and any help or thoughts is appreciated.

I make stained glass. The piece may or may not be old. Wavy glass with air bubbles is available at any stained glass supply store.

It doesn't look ornate enough for a temple, and the gold color isn't really all that unusual. I can't help you with the age, but I think for $6.99 it is a very good buy.

Looks like the border is probably zinc and not lead. My opinion is its probably not that old based on that.

Its very rare that I see a stained glass panel that contains glass that is not in recent production. Nice find.

The 2 triangles of the Star of David don't normally interlock that way. The artist of this piece seems to have messed that part up. IMO, the star is supposed to be gold colored as opposed to yellow, which is not unusual. Overall, the piece does not look terribly old or well constructed for that matter. Also, Jews don't pray in a church, they pray in a "temple" or "synagogue".
