Re: Need help on date of this old Knife

Not 1962 much older site. But thank you

also I found some adds from Lawton Cutlery which had some close looking knives as well as the metal logo on the side and this is a close as I could come.
the knives I was looking at were dated 1886
any help on ID of this knife would be appreciated.
I cant find any info on Lawton Cutlery except this pic of EBAY of one thats close.

Re: Need help on date of this old Knife

That little round "hump" below the blade may be a Walker Lock, aka "liner lock" (you have to push it sideways to free the blade). If it says "Walker" on it it will not be very old. 1980's or later. Otherwise, the liner lock goes back some time (I guess he discovered it had never been patented??).

Here's a sampling of patterns. Some of these styles were from the 1800's and still look the same today.

I believe that style is called a "bottle" handle, but I got tired of wading through the zillion "Coke Bottle Knife" hits showing coke promo knives I got on that.
