Need help on colonial find. Saddle decoration?

Hello all. I found this over the weekend at a 1760s site in NC. I'm thinking this may be some sort of saddle decoration but really not sure. It appears to have been silver gilt. Thanks in advance for the help!

I hate to say it, but the two are not even similar. The one on ebay is the remains of a rosette, and the two nubbins left would have formed a loop.
Yours is a harness accoutrement, similar to the ones shown here:

You are right, it is way smaller than a rosette.

I agree with Creskol. They went on a harness. I love to dig those because they always come from an old site.
