Kinda tough to see but looks to be an eagle facing right, was wondering if this is possibly a us military button. It’s pretty small, I’m assuming cuff button. It’s flat button, not a two piece but can’t make any writing out on the back As always any help is appreciated.

If I’m seeing it right, I think it’s a Jacksonian vest/waistcoat button, missing the outer ring. If so it would be civilian from about the 1830’s.

I think that’s close enough for an ID for me, thanks nhbenz, much appreciated!

1820s through 1830s Mexican Army officers buttons were very similar to the button posted by nhbenz. Just a thought. And it would have had o travel a long way to get to Massachusetts. There are many variations.
