Need help on a copper coin ID

Today I was out for two hours and stumbled on a great find, although I'm not sure exactly what I found..lol. I'm pretty sure it's a colonial copper coin, but one side is completely toasted. The "heads" side doesn't have much left, but possibly enough for someone to identify?
If anyone has any idea, please let me know. Thanks for any help you can provide! GL and HH out there!

Hard to nail it down exactly without dimensions, but looks like a french copper similar to this:

HMMM... I looked up early U.S., British, Connecticut...just not SMURF....

From what I can tell so far, I'm thinking french as well now. I'll try to get more information. It's about the size of a us Large Cent.
