Need help! Old Ford automobile part...

Top part measures about 1 1/2 inches, bottom of it is roughly 2 1/4 inches. About 2 inches tall.

Looks like it screwed onto something and the inside still contained grease after all these years. Any idea what it could be? Age?

Part of it is smashed in. Maybe from a car crash? And it fell off at that point? I guess I can always imagine that...

I believe it's a grease cap (dust cap) for the wheel bearings, which used to screw onto the hub.

Hub cap. Model T, 1910s-20s vintage.
