Cru, do you think that could be a Seal Martix ring? On his Today's Finds post for the ring the one shown on the UK Finds site was similar in ship design, although the ring structure looked a bit different. I suggested Bill get some Silly Putty :) and make an impression and see! :dontknow:

I agree as my 925 one with deep black on it has a sloop in a barrel on the front{see avatar} with Galeic symbols for trinity{11} around it. The yellow one has two kissing hogges and SI 1ck inside it. I have theory that Thomas Tew was on this Island long ago and found 100s of nugget coins holed, with P, SI, and Roman Numerals in shape of hogge/boat. 1685? They are sometimes described as seal rings, but it's a little less likely in this period, although we may never know. If the impression is good, then it will add some weight to it. However, I just think it was the way it was made by incising the decor.
