Need help in dating colonial ring dug today

Or at least part of one. It has a cool design of a 3-masted ship etched into the face. I'm sure its pre-1800 but maybe someone can narrow that down a bit. Thanks for any help.

Cru, do you think that could be a Seal Martix ring? On his Today's Finds post for the ring the one shown on the UK Finds site was similar in ship design, although the ring structure looked a bit different. I suggested Bill get some Silly Putty and make an impression and see!

I agree as my 925 one with deep black on it has a sloop in a barrel on the front{see avatar} with Galeic symbols for trinity{11} around it. The yellow one has two kissing hogges and SI 1ck inside it. I have theory that Thomas Tew was on this Island long ago and found 100s of nugget coins holed, with P, SI, and Roman Numerals in shape of hogge/boat. 1685? HH Boris Wm. Kidd was here before his trial in Boston and my 12th Greatgrandfather LT. Jonathan Delano 1647-1720 was there when Governor Bellemont betrayed him! In 1700.

They are sometimes described as seal rings, but it's a little less likely in this period, although we may never know. If the impression is good, then it will add some weight to it. However, I just think it was the way it was made by incising the decor.
