I tried and tried to make some decent pics but no luck. Dont know how to run that camera. Anyway, I found this thing at an area where a farmhouse used to sit in North Central Iowa. I dont know how long ago the house was there. This object appears to be a copper alloy I think. It weighs in at .125 ounces and its diameter is really close to the size of a nickel. The only markings on it is the number 73. The number is on one side and the other side is blank. The numbers are (incuse) below the surface rather than above the surface like on coins.

Old cattle ear tag or tool/equipment tag... coat check, room key fob, ... :-\

It's tough without a pic.. good try though. If your digital camera has a "macro" setting that usually is yer best bet.

do you have a unmagnified glass that you can put in front of the camera lens?

The more I drink, the more in focus it gets.

When I was a kid we used to get metal tags like this when we traded the boot's for ice skates. Kinda like doing the bowling shoe trade thing at the alley. The tag was simply a cubby hole numbering system, which hung on a nail, so you got your shoes, coat, tool, item back. This looks like it hung over coat rack, cubby hole, shoe hole, kind of something.

Pour me another one barkeep...

Tool tag or ID tag for some sort of a check out and check in desk. I've seen them used for tools, skates, at swimming pools to ID your clothing basket., etc, etc. Monty
