Need help IDing a button

Hey everyone ,
I found this button today at a local park at about 3 inches . It looks to have some age to it . I thought it was a U.S. military button till I saw the crown above the eagle . English maybe ? It is a little bigger than a penny . Any thought ? . The back has been rusted away .

It's a Great Seal button and is military. They came into use in 1902 and are still being used. Here is a link you might want to go through.

Im not so sure. Thats one weird button. Im sure we didnt have a king or queen in 1902.

You need to post a good pic of the back. Wow. Maybe its a turkey, not an eagle.

It looks like a 2 piece iron back, so that would make it post colonial.. The great seal was first publicly used in 1792 but Im pretty sure we never used a crown on the Great Seal of the United States of America.

My bad! I failed to notice the crown. And another now obvious difference is the missing shield! Could it be a patriotic or diplomat's button?

They have been making buttons since 1812 so it may be old. No way for us to say without a backmark.
