The groove looks to be weather smoothed by ma nature so it may be natural cleavage. No idea what kind of stone it is...Not an expert, just what it looks like to me.

So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).
