Per usual these are two random buttons that were received in a box of relics. The first one feels like it is pewter button and looks like it possibly depicts a Roman figure but cannot be too sure. The back of the button is fairly pitted and the shank is nice and complete. The second button seems to me like it is not very old and also rusts up a bit every time we clean it so it makes me think its a cheaper quality of material.in looking again at the first button the figure almost looks American Indian but I'm not sure and would like to know what y'all think.

Are those sharks around the edge of the first button?
and some writing by the chin of the bust, maybe Greek?

Yeap, a very modern fashion coin copy button.

Does the other one have a squared off shank?

No it's rounded and definitely looks machine made.
